6 Months!!!!...And More Diligence

Image
I hit 6 months on my mission this week! It's scary to know that I am a 1/4 of the way done! I don't like thinking about it. My comp is always upset that he only has 6 months left and I think I am just as scared with 18 left! This last week I was super sick. On Tuesday, I was trying to go out and find, but Elder Moye told me "no" because apparently I looked like I was near death. He told me "when you throw up, you stay home". So Tuesday, we did all we could while we were home. On Wednesday and Thursday, we were able to go out and do all we could to find people-not much success but some potential people. Friday I was super sick again so we stayed home that day as well and had district counsel over zoom. We also were able to talk with our Mission President about our area! Elder Moye has been to almost all of the areas in the mission and he said that this spanish area has been the most difficult for him to find prospects. We have been good about keeping a good a...

More Diligence

We are still working as hard as we can.  We had Zone Conference this week and it was super good. We were able to talk more about obedience and cleaning the inner vessel. This has helped us be just a little more obedient. We try everyday to do the best we can and sometimes we make mistakes which is okay! Because we know that we can just be better. We knocked doors everyday as long as fit into our schedule. I also got sick for like 3 of those days, but I pushed through it and we still went knocking. Luckily, we were able to find 2 houses of interested Spanish-speakers. We got appointments with them for this week and we are so excited! Please pray for them!! For a little thought of what I learned this week is just keep trying. No matter what, just put your head down and get to work in whatever you need in your life. Faith grows in those situations. -Love Elder Owens -Elder Moye at IHOP this morning.(We went because we saw a sign saying that there was a men's Baptist prayer group meeti...

Diligence

We have had a long week and I am enjoying it!  We are spending lots of time finding. After Angel's baptism, we had most of our friends slowly fall out of contact with us. It's been rough but we are working hard to find more people that are ready to receive us! We have finished going through a huge list of members in the stake that went on spanish-speaking missions and had very little success with it. We have done member referrals and will continue to work on that. But now we have a lotttt of time to knock doors. I have been loving it and can't wait for more. My favorite is everyone answers and is angry that we are there, but I always put on a huge smile and say we are in the area sharing messages about Jesus Christ and praying with people and ask if we can pray with them. Half the people say no and if they say no then I will say something like,"You don't have time to pray or receive more knowledge about our Savior Jesus Christ?" Every time they have accepted a...

ANGELS BAPTISM!!!

Image
Angel was baptized Saturday and confirmed Sunday and it was so amazing to see! Just his change over the weekend was huge and it was awesome. He had the faith to get baptized but I don't think he truly understood what receiving the Holy Ghost could do for him. Angel is shy and doesn't show his emotions very well. He has been through a lot and it's taken a little bit of a toll on him. His mom passed away when he was 4 and his dad has been in prison for a while. During that time, Angel got into a gang and started to get into other bad things. One day Brenda, his Tia(aunt), decided to fly down and bring him home. So that is exactly what she did. After they got back she was thinking of taking him to church. She had been inactive since Covid and wasn't even very active before then. She had been going to the English ward. They were not on our records for the Spanish branch. We had just opened the area and had zero information for anyone besides 4 pieces of papers of member...
