UPCOMING BAPTISM!!

Image
Angel had his interview and he is going to be baptized this Saturday at 4:30!! He is doing great and is focused on this big step in his life! He keeps saying his only concern is getting his hair wet! He is just so ready. The Branch is loving them so much and taking them all in like family and Angel is making so many friends. We are wrapping up this transfer (my second transfer in Stafford). When President told me in interviews that I would be opening this area, he told me that I would be here for 4 transfers-which is 6 months. He said that he wanted me to plant my feet and build relationships with the people here. I was also told that it is a test area, which means we are being put in to see if there is enough work here for both us and the Hermanas. He asked us how that was going and I told him it was going well so we will see what he does in the next couple transfers for this area.  For a little spiritual thought I wanna talk about blessings from diligence. In my interview, Presid...

Supreme Lessons.

We had an amazing week!  We had an awesome lesson with Angel about commandments and different things like that and he was super into it. We also asked him how he was feeling about baptism and he said he was super excited. But he also said he was nervous for one thing....he's scared to get his hair wet. He gave us a little scare but it was pretty funny. We also had a lesson with Mario and Omar and they are so awesome! We talked about prayer and the spirit and they had so many questions-it was great! At the end Mario told us that his wife needs to hear all this (they care for someone and can't leave at the same time) and gave us her number to reach out and that has gone great as well. We also got to make papusas with them which were delicious!!! We had an exchange with our Zone Leaders this week and that went great. It was super fun to see them again! This last Saturday was 2 years since my friend Dallin passed away and that was hard to think of, but it is helpful to know the won...

ANGEL IS ON DATE

Image
This was a wonderful week- we had so many miracles! Tuesday we taught the restoration to Angel and it went so well! He lives with his aunt and uncle and his uncle is a strong catholic. When we explained the restoration, Angel said, "So one of those not true churches is the catholic church!" And Elder Moye and I were like uhhhh.... and Tim his uncle just laughs. They made some jokes and it was funny but at the end Angel said he wants to be a part of our church. So this Sunday we invited him to be baptized and he accepted so he will be baptized February 4th!  We have also had so many miracles with people that are so curious. We have people coming to us now. I know it's all because we have promised the Lord we are ready to teach people that are ready to hear from us.  Ever since we prayed about that with a true desire, we have been able to meet so many people. We also had an exchange on Wednesday. I was with the Zone Leader Elder Davenport and we decided that we wanted to tr...

The Work

Image
This week was an amazing example of what the work can be. God is good. He wants to help us and be there for us. That includes all the people we are teaching, which means we, as missionaries, are responsible for being ready to find those people. There are a lot of missionaries that are on the missionary routine of study, find, teach, sleep. Which is great! But where is the time for God to work? I have learned when I follow that pattern, there isn't that time. Every day we start with prayer and I have been wanting more experiences like that voice memo I sent a couple weeks ago. So I decided that I'm ready for that and I want those. So I prayed this week saying things like," Father I am ready. Guide us to those people that need us today." That little bit has been just so powerful! This week has been filled with those miracles! We have had 2 referrals that are doing so well right now and we are about to put Angel on date to be baptized! We had 6 people we have been trying...

¡Feliz Año Nuevo!

Image
Happy happy new year! This year was awesome and I have had so many cool experiences! There have been a lot of blessings and many of wonderful things have happened. Especially on my mission. Spiritual Momentum. That's the key. Spiritual Momentum is what we need to have everyday-100% of the time-if we want have everything be perfectly guided. But we are not perfect and that is impossible to have that all the time. But it's extremely important to try our best. Pray to God sincerely. Asking for His help in each thing. Taking our time and focusing on the good things. Each good thing. Using that for motivation every day so that we can be better. But the biggest thing I have learned to be guided in is a true change of heart. Amazing things can come from a change of heart through prayer. We end in the name of Jesus Christ because everything is possible with Him. Let Him help you. Let the spirit guide. Love you all so much. -Elder  Owens P.S. Love you James I have like no photos this we...
